Dies & Molds Manufacturing and Machining

We perform complete machining and finishing of dies, matrices, punches, molds and other industrial tooling according to customer drawings, 3D models and technical requirements.
We combine 3–5-axis CNC milling, jig boring, EDM, surface grinding, jig grinding, profile grinding, heat treatment and final inspection.

COMPLETE DIE OR MOLD MANUFACTURING CYCLE INCLUDES:

  • Deckel Maho DMU 60 / DMU 125 P
    3–5-axis machining of complex forming surfaces, cavities, inserts and tooling components.

    • 3–5 axes • complex 3D geometry • molds • inserts
  • WKW-100
    Jig boring of plates, hole patterns and fitting surfaces requiring precise relative positioning.

    • hole coordinates • centre distances • die plates
  • Hauser 3SMO
    Jig grinding and precision finishing of bores and contours.
    Machine travels:
    approximately 400 × 250 mm
    Maximum jig-grinding diameter:
    approximately Ø220 mm

    • 400 × 250 mm • jig grinding • precision bores
  • Mitsubishi FA20
    Wire EDM machining of hardened matrices, punches, inserts and complex through-contours.

    Wire EDM • complex contours • hardened steels
  • 3L722A
    Precision surface grinding of plates, reference surfaces and working surfaces.

    up to 1250 × 320 mm • surface grinding • reference surfaces
  • Jones & Shipman 1400
    Finish surface grinding of small, critical tooling components.
    Working table:
    approximately 610 × 178 mm

    610 × 178 mm • precision grinding • tooling components
5-AXIS MACHINING. Complex Geometry in a Single Setup.
We use 5-axis DMU 60 monoBLOCK and DMU 125 P machines for 3D components and parts with inclined, spatial and mutually related surfaces.
Machining several sides without repeated re-clamping is particularly effective for:
  • complex housings;
  • tooling;
  • molds;
  • components requiring high accuracy of relative surface positioning.

JIG BORING & JIG GRINDING

For die tooling, not only the bore diameter is important, but also its exact position relative to the other features of the component.
  • WKW-100

    • jig boring;
    • precision hole patterns;
    • guide-post bores;
    • holes in die plates;
    • mutually related fitting surfaces.
  • Hauser 3SMO

    We perform finish jig grinding of:
    • bores;
    • contours;
    • tooling components after machining or heat treatment.

WIRE EDM — MITSUBISHI FA20

Wire EDM is used where a complex and precise contour must be produced in hardened tool steel without significant mechanical load on the component.
Typical applications:
  • matrices;
  • punches;
  • narrow slots;
  • complex through-profiles;
  • shaped holes;

  • contours after heat treatment;

  • inserts.

    EDM is particularly effective for manufacturing die–punch pairs, where stable working clearance is critical.

SURFACE & PROFILE GRINDING

Final & Working Surfaces

To obtain precise reference surfaces and final geometry, we use several types of grinding equipment.

  • 3L722A
    • Plates, inserts, matrices and other medium-sized parts.
  • Jones & Shipman 1400
    • Precision small components, inserts, strips and tooling elements.
  • Petewe PFS 4U
    • Profile grinding of shaped and complex working contours.
  • 3D725
    Large plates and reference surfaces.
    In our modernised configuration:
    parts up to 800 × 2000 mm

HEAT TREATMENT & FINISHING AFTER HARDENING

For components manufactured from wear-resistant and tool steels, the manufacturing route may include:
  • Geometry Must Be Maintained After Heat Treatment

    • hardening;
    • tempering;
    • normalising;
    • annealing;
    • other required heat-treatment processes.
  • After Heat Treatment, Critical Surfaces May Be Processed Again By:

    surface grinding
    → jig grinding
    → EDM
    → inspection
    This allows the final geometry to be achieved after the material structure and hardness have changed.

INSPECTION THROUGHOUT THE MANUFACTURING CYCLE

  • COORDINATE 3D INSPECTION

    Sheffield Discovery D12
    We use the CMM where the critical requirement is not only an individual dimension, but the relative position of multiple features on the component.
    We inspect:
    • hole coordinates;
    • centre distances;
    • coaxiality;
    • planes;
    • angles;
    • relative position of surfaces.
    • The Renishaw PH10 allows the probe orientation to be changed so complex parts can be inspected from several directions without continuous repositioning.

  • MANUAL & INDICATOR INSPECTION

    For process inspection directly at the machine, we use precision manual measuring instruments.
    Mitutoyo
    → external diameters, thicknesses and fitting surfaces
    Bore gauges
    → internal diameters and bearing seats
    Mahr MarCator
    → small deviations, runout and setup
    Carl Zeiss / precision measuring instruments
    → rapid dimensional and depth inspection
    This allows us to inspect a component not only after machining is complete, but also between individual manufacturing operations.

DIES FOR PRESS PRODUCTION

Tooling Manufacturing & In-House Press Capacity
The plant has press equipment with force up to:
630 tonnes
This complements our tooling manufacturing capability and allows actual operating conditions to be considered during machining.
For dies, it is important to ensure:
  • precise relative positioning of die and punch;
  • stable working clearance;
  • parallelism of reference surfaces;
  • precise guiding;
  • required hardness of working elements.
